This week, the director of The Chosen announced the release date for the much-anticipated Season 5 and revealed more details about upcoming Bible-based projects, including one on Acts and another on Moses. Director Dallas Jenkins said Season 5 will be released in theaters in early April 2025.
"I don't know exactly if it's the first or second week just yet -- we're working out the details, but it will be early April," he said.
At some point during the season's theatrical run, he added, fans will have a chance to watch all eight episodes in one day.
Jenkins made the announcement during a livestream, during which he also answered questions from fans. One fan asked Jenkins if the future series based on Acts, dubbed The Way of the Chosen, will include the same actors from The Chosen main series.
"Here's the honest answer: I don't actually know for sure because there may be some actors who don't want to do more than seven seasons of one character," Jenkins said. "We're going to be figuring all that out over the next few years. We hope so. Obviously, I love that cast, and I want to bring back as many as possible."
The Acts series is still in development, he added.
"We haven't even decided yet exactly who we will be focusing most on," he said. "Obviously, we can't focus on 15 people or 20 people equally, but we've been developing some of the storylines already, just some general ideas."
Another fan asked Jenkins why he chose to work on other projects after The Chosen instead of jumping straight into the Acts series. For example, Jenkins will work on a series about Moses prior to making The Way of the Chosen.
"Number one, just simply creative energy," he answered. "I'm going to speak for the actors and for myself. When you're doing the same people and the same storylines and the same arc for so long, you need a break."
He said that taking a "creative break" from other projects will ultimately improve the Acts series.
