Tuesday 19th November
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.”
Change your sense of inadequacy about sharing Christ with people to a sense of dependence on God as you share Christ with people!
As you think about the people in your life who don’t know Jesus, you don’t see how you could ever persuade them that he is the way, the truth and the life. You don’t see how you could connect with them at the heart level and make them long for a relationship with God. They don’t seem interested. How could you change that?
In a sense, your feelings of inadequacy are perceptive. It’s true that you can’t do any of those things. The problem is that you are not factoring God into the process! Rather than thinking about what you can (or can’t) do, focus on what God can do…through you.
“No one can come to me” is not the end of Jesus’ sentence. He continues, “…unless the Father who sent me draws him.” It’s that work of the Father that completely changes the equation as you lead people to Jesus.
This is why prayer is so important to your personal ministry with people. It’s not what you do, but what God does through you that changes lives. Why do you think Jesus, living as a man, took so much time for prayer?
Take a moment now and pray through each encounter you expect to have with people this week.
