Michigan and Ohio State Players Turn to Prayer during Post-Game Chaos

A group of players between Michigan and Ohio State dropped to their knees to pray during a melee that broke out amongst other players after the game last week. As reported by Outkick, the brawl took place shortly after the Wolverines defeated the Buckeyes 13-10, when some Ohio state players took issue with a Michigan player who attempted to plant a team flag at midfield of The Shoe on the OSU logo.

Video footage posted to social media shows security using pepper spray on players from both teams. In the midst of the chaos, however, some other players took a knee in groups and began to pray.

"While the melee was going on between Michigan and Ohio State, Ryan Day looked on, and two Buckeyes and a Wolverine huddled together to pray," wrote Brandon Marcello, a national college football reporter for CBS Sports and 247 Sports.

Marcello's post included a short clip of the prayer between the players taking place. Another photo showed a larger group, composed of mainly Ohio State players, likewise taking a knee and praying together.

Despite scoring 13 points, Michigan was considered to have the least impressive offenses in all of college football as they completed only 9 passes for 62 yards and turned the ball over twice.

During a post-game interview, Michigan's Kalel Mullings shared his thoughts about the melee, arguing that it was unnecessary and that Ohio needed to accept the loss. 

"You hate to see stuff like that after the game. It's just bad for the sport and bad for CFB... They gotta learn how to lose man. You can't be fighting," he told Fox Sports reporter Jenny Taft. 

"At the end of the day, some people gotta learn how to lose. We had four quarters to do all that fighting. And now people want to talk and fight?" Mullings added.

His response was met with mixed reactions from fans online. 

"You literally planted a flag in the middle of their home field. You think they're just going to let that happen?" one person wrote. 

Another person commented, "Well if you weren't disrespecting the field a fight won't happen, respect the rivalry"

In response to when the melee took place after the Michigan player attempted to plant the flag, one user wrote, "Ohio players were basically off the field. Shows how weak they are mentally to come back and all of a sudden be upset about bus celebrating on their field."

Bill Speros, a columnist for the Boston Herald, denounced OSU for initially causing the melee.

"Michigan alone on the field at the 50 after winning.OSU players ran all the way across the field and began this fight," he wrote.

Speros added, "OSU could not beat Michigan, but they cheap-shotted Michigan after the game 

If you can't win the game, you don't get to cry post-game. 100% loser move."
