After the death of Jehoshaphat, the marriage of Jehoram to Athaliah led to Baal worship. After Jehoram was killed, Athaliah massacred all of Jehoshaphat's sons and grandsons, except for one-year-old Jehoash who was hidden by the high priest Jehoida (see 22:10-22).
All of our relationships should be guided by the Scriptures: Be . . . not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness? . . . come out from among them, and be . . . separate, says the Lord (II Corinthians 6:14,17). And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness (Ephesians 5:11).
