10 Changes Christians Can Anticipate during Trump's Presidency

In the 1980s, President Ronald Reagan was nicknamed the "Teflon President." He was given that nickname because he had a way of turning criticism around on his accuser, and blame never seemed to stick to him either, according to The University of Chicago Press. Though many would say President-elect Donald Trump doesn't have Reagan's finesse or charm, few can argue that Trump's determination, courage, perseverance, and endurance have been impressive as he has worked hard to become America's next president.

Though it will be a few months before he fully steps into office as president, here are 10 changes that Christians can expect during Trump's presidency.

  • Economy; Stock

    1. Stronger Economy

Most voters wanted the next president to address this particular issue.

"We will drive prices down and make America affordable again," Trump promised a crowd of about 2,500 at an indoor arena filled to capacity in Asheville, North Carolina, according to U.S. News

A few extra broad brush details on how he plans to do that include cutting spending, increasing tariffs, and lowering taxes, according to Investopedia. He also plans to force America's European allies to pay more for defense, according to Reuters. It's anticipated he'll increase the child tax credit, according to ABC News.

The economy is already gaining momentum, especially after the announcement that Trump won the presidency. The dollar rallied on Wednesday.

  • People looking at food and a receipt, 45 percent of Americans say they are suffering because of inflation

    2. Lower Inflation

One of the areas in which inflation has been the most noticeable for American families is in the area of groceries. This was especially true in the battleground states. There have been significant price increases in many of the basics, such as eggs, ground beef, flour, bread, coffee, and more.

Ken Estelle of Feeding America West Michigan told Fox News in an interview that food prices have risen so high that many people who have never needed assistance in the past have come to his organization for help. Not only are these people coming more often, but many of them are employed. They are just struggling financially.

Fox News also referenced a report regarding officials in a food bank in Northern Nevada. That food bank said it's now serving 155,000 monthly, an increase of 70 percent from 2017.

According to CBS, Trump's promise to lower inflation and the announcement of his election win caused the Dow Jones to surge 1,503 points.

    3. Lower Taxes

Investors believe that a Trump presidency will lead to more rapid economic growth and policies that will benefit the marketplace.

"Trump is viewed as supporting lower corporate tax rates, deregulation, and industrial policies that favor domestic growth, all of which could provide more stimulus to the U.S. economy and benefit-risk assets," analysts with Janus Henderson Investors said in a report picked up by CBS.

He has talked about eliminating taxes on car loan payments, social security benefits, servers' tips, and individual income taxes. According to ABC News, the tax revenue would be replaced through multiple tariffs he wants to implement.

  • someone pumping gas, Rick Warren urged the US to stop buying oil from Russia

    4. Lower Gas Prices

This area has been a real struggle for families under the current administration. Trump wants to focus more on American drilling and increasing its own oil production. According to The Washington Post, he also wants to reduce support for electric vehicles.

Trump believes that reversing the previous administration's environmental rules will drive down the price of gas. According to The Washington Post, he has projected that it could go below $2 per gallon.

  • Housing; House for sale; Home

    5. Increase Housing Inventory

The Fed is expected to cut rates on Thursday, and Trump is expected to push for an increase in housing inventory.

"He's a developer himself… he's pushing for more housing," BH Group President and founder Isaac Toledano told Fox News on Wednesday." [He] and his family are heavily invested in real estate… And I hear that they keep buying, and they're more and more bullish on this market. Putting all those things together sends a clear message that Donald Trump is pro-real estate."

Toledano didn't feel that tariffs would deter developers because he believed that having Trump in office would increase their self-confidence in providing housing.

  • Israel

    6. End the Russia-Ukraine War and Remain Supportive of Israel

Russian President Vladimir Putin has become bold in his ambitions to reestablish the former Soviet Union. The players involved in this war that support Russia now include North Korea, China (for munitions), and Iran. The Ukraine's supporters include the EU, the UK, some NATO countries, and the United States.

During the debate with Harris, Trump said he has a relationship with both President Zelensky and President Putin, and they respect him. He believes that he can end the war if he speaks to each one individually and gets them together.

Trump also wants to extend support to Israel and bring an end to the war in Gaza but hasn't detailed how his administration would make that happen. He holds the view that Israel has the "right to win its war on terror," according to NBC News.

  • Abortion Law

    7. Sanctity of Life

Trump will keep the pro-life issue at the state level so that each state will decide whether or not to allow abortion. Those who allow it will also decide under what circumstances and how far into the pregnancy it will be allowed.

    8. Illegal Immigration

Trump sees this as a crisis that needs to be addressed as swiftly as possible and with "unprecedented order. "He has vowed to set a mass deportation program into operation on his first day in office, especially in connection to those with criminal records, according to VOA News.

"We are going to fix our borders. …We want people to come back in, but we have to let them come back in. They have to come in legally," said Trump as part of his victory speech in Florida on Tuesday according to VOA News.

    9. Continue Protecting Religious Freedom

In 2018, Trump signed a rather extensive Executive Order that strengthened religious freedom and articulated that it would be a priority during his administration.  According to PBS, he reaffirmed his commitment to protecting religious freedom during the NRB convention in Nashville earlier this year.

"Remember, every communist regime throughout history has tried to stamp out the churches, just like every fascist regime has tried to co-opt them and control them," he told attendees during the event. "And, in America, the radical left is trying to do both.

They want to tear down crosses where they can and cover them up with social justice flags. But no one will be touching the cross of Christ under the Trump administration, I swear to you," he vowed.

    10. Reestablish Faith Office

During the National Faith Summit in Powder Springs, Georgia, last Monday, he promised to reestablish the Faith Office in the White House's Oval Office, just as he had done in his first term. The Faith Office will report directly to him and allow religious leaders to communicate with him directly in the Oval Office, according to The Christian Post.
