The new year will soon be upon us, and it's time to set some new goals. We all know that we should pray for all the people in our lives. We also know that prayer is our most powerful connection to Jesus.
Often we pray for our friends, family, kids, and pets, but how often do we pray for our spouses? Some of you may say all the time, and some may say here and there or when something is going on. Others may have a hard time knowing what to pray for their spouse. This is understandable. Prayer can be hard sometimes. As wives, praying for our husbands is one of the most important things we can do. If you are a wife who isn't sure what or how to pray for her husband, the following prayers will help you get started.
Prayer doesn't have to be formal. Talk to Jesus like you are talking to one of your best friends. He's listening, and he loves you and your husband.
1. A Prayer for Work
1. A Prayer for Work
SLIDE 1 OF 11
With a Job:
Work can be one of the most stressful things in our lives. Expectations, tasks to complete, and navigating relationships with coworkers can be overwhelming sometimes. Job loss, reduced work hours, or a husband's job search can cause extreme stress.
Dear Lord,
I pray over my husband and his work situation right now. I thank you that he has a job and does it well. Please help him navigate his day-to-day work situations with ease. Guide him in difficult situations and give him the right words when interacting with others, whether it be his boss, coworkers, a customer, or a client. In your name, I pray. Amen.
Without a Job:
Dear Lord,
I pray over my husband's job search right now. I pray you will lead him to the right job. Please guide and encourage him and guard him against fake job postings. I'm trusting you for your provision in this time of uncertainty. In your name I pray. Amen.
2. A Prayer for Protection
2. A Prayer for Protection
SLIDE 2 OF 11
We live in a world of uncertainty. Horrible things happen in our society every minute, from shootings to carjackings and robberies.
Dear Lord,
I pray you will protect my husband wherever he goes. Guard and guide him on his daily drive, as he walks down the street, and inside his place of work. Although we live in an uncertain world, I refuse to live in fear that he won't return to me. No matter what happens, I trust you in this situation. Amen.
3. A Prayer for Health
3. A Prayer for Health
SLIDE 3 OF 11
All areas of your husband's health are important—mentally, emotionally, and physically and with society's stressors. This is definitely an area to pray about.
Dear Lord,
I pray for my husband's health. Thank you for his good strength and health physically, mentally, and emotionally. If he ever feels differently, I ask that you encourage him to tell me, as men can have a hard time talking about what is going on. I pray you will help him continue on his journey of good health. In your name, I pray. Amen.
4. Prayer for Health Issues

Dear Lord,
I offer prayers for my husband's health. It can be hard for him, I know, while struggling with X issue (or issues). I ask that you will help him manage these things and guide him to the best solutions for him. Please help him manage these issues so he can live a life without pain. Amen.

5. A Prayer for His Identity
5. A Prayer for His Identity
SLIDE 5 OF 11
Life can be hard, and there is nothing the enemy likes more than messing with our identity in Christ. He loves to sharpen our insecurities, make us doubt what God has said about us, and disregard what he has given us.
Dear Lord,
I pray over my husband's identity in you. In your name, I pray you will stop every insecurity and doubt the enemy tries to bring up. Instead, I ask that you keep reminding my husband of his positive traits and all the ways he serves you, myself, and others. Help him keep a strong identity in you. In your name, I pray. Amen.
6. A Prayer for His Passion
6. A Prayer for His Passion
SLIDE 6 OF 11
It can be easy for the hustle and bustle and stressors of everyday life to dim our passion for prayer. The enemy delights in this because a diminished hunger for spiritual things gives him more opportunities to strike.
Dear Lord,
I pray for my husband's passion for you. Keep his fire for prayer, reading the Bible, and meditating on your word strong, Lord. If he has lost it, help stoke the spark in his heart for you again. Help him not to let the hustle and bustle of daily life overshadow his yearning for you. In your name, I pray. Amen.
7. A Prayer for His Confidence
7. A Prayer for His Confidence
SLIDE 7 OF 11
In our society, a person can quickly lose confidence. It's bad enough that sometimes we struggle on our own with our confidence, but when blows come from friends, family, bosses, and coworkers, it can be devastating. The enemy also loves this, and he will do all that he can to diminish your confidence, constantly reminding you of the mistakes and bad choices you've made in the past. He wants to convince you that God is judging you rather than the truth of you being covered by the blood of Jesus.
Dear Lord,
I pray for my husband's confidence. We live in a society where cutting someone down and belittling their confidence to get ahead is normal. Please help my husband remember the things he's good at—being a good husband, father, and family member. Having the work ethic to be an excellent employee, no matter the situation. Remind him of what he is in you, the ultimate confidence builder. If his confidence falters, lift him up, and help me do the same. For you have created him for great things and a purpose. That alone should help boost his confidence in what you say he is and can be. Amen.
8. A Prayer for His Calling
8. A Prayer for His Calling
SLIDE 8 OF 11
Everyone has a calling or a purpose that God wants them to fulfill, and when people choose to follow that, things get loud. The enemy will make sure that fear, anxiety, and doubt are the loudest voices you hear. They will make you wonder if following this calling is too risky to even try.
Dear Lord,
I pray for my husband's calling. If you have called him into it at this time, help him embrace it, grow in it, and be successful at it. Guide him in the right direction if he hasn't found it yet. If you are calling him to realize it in this moment, give him the discernment to recognize it and the wisdom and confidence to step into it.

9. A Prayer for Rest and Contentment
9. A Prayer for Rest and Contentment
SLIDE 10 OF 11
Rest and contentment are two things we need but rarely get in our fast-paced society. In fact, to most people, those are two foreign words because people are never content with what they have, so they push themselves harder and get no rest. The enemy loves this because it causes you to overload your schedule, pushing your limits until you break because you feel you can never say no.
Dear Lord,
I pray over the demands that my husband has in his life. Everything from work to family expectations and beyond. I pray you will help him say no to commitments he's not interested in. Help him discern the right opportunities and when to say no. Remind him it's okay to make time to get some rest and that it's imperative to perform at top efficiency as a human. Help him be content with where he is and what he has. Remind him that only in you will he find true contentment. Amen.
10. A Prayer for His Relationships
10. A Prayer for His Relationships
SLIDE 11 OF 11
Your husband's relationships with friends and family are very important. He needs those relationships to have a healthy, balanced life outside of his relationship with you and the kids.
Dear Lord,
For my husband and his relationships, I pray. I appreciate that he has friends and enjoys social activities. His strong family relationships throughout the years also deserve my gratitude. I ask that you guard his friendships and guide him in making new friends. I say to the enemy that you can take any discord, disruption, or disunity and go back to the pit of hell where you belong in Jesus' name. Because the Lord is with those gathered, you don't belong there. I pray his bonds with his friends will remain strong. In your name, I pray. Amen.
Take some time and choose one or two of these prayers to pray for your husband in the new year. It doesn't have to be perfect, just consistent. Jesus will hear you, and your husband will appreciate it.
