12 Powerful Prayers Your Wife Wants You to Pray Over Her

Dear Husband,

I need you. I need you to lead, provide for, and protect me. I need your love, and I need to feel safe and cherished. But more than anything else, I desperately need your prayers.

Love,

Your Doting Wife

If every faithful wife could write her sweet hubby a love letter of what she really needs, I believe it would consist of her beloved husband praying for and over her. That’s because she knows prayers are important and truly powerful.

Here is the truth to behold: When we pray, God listens (1 John 5:14)! That means He hears the desperate pleas for the respect you need from your wife to the prayers of praise and blessings your precious wife brings.

Oh, dear husband, when you take your heart to the Father and seek His will for your marriage, you will gain a better understanding as to the nature of your precious wife’s heart and the beautiful way in which God created her. Similarly, it will also place a hedge of protection around your sacred union and create a spiritual barrier from the enemy’s blatant attacks.

So, armor up and fight for your marriage. Your wife needs you! Below are 12 prayers you can lift up any time, along with some verses to proclaim over your lovely wife.

    1. A Prayer to Grow in Her Faith

God, thank you for my precious wife. She is such a gift to me, and I want nothing more than to honor and glorify You with her, together. Grant her the means to step away and get quiet with You, Lord. Deepen her faith by allowing her to share her heart with You in prayer and grow in Your Word. I pray that You lead, guide, and etch truth in her heart. I ask this in Your Holy name. Amen.

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6

    2. A Prayer for Strength to Carry Out Her Day

Lord, my darling wife does so much for our family, and I know she needs strength to carry out all the obligations and duties that consume her in a day’s work. She is a woman of many gifts and talents, and a blessing to so many. Please bless her and help her make decisions that reflect Your goodness and faithfulness as You grant her peace and joy. Amen.

The LORD is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. Exodus 15:2

    3. A Prayer to Remember She Is Cherished and Loved

Jesus, please help me to love, cherish, adore, and respect my beautiful wife. I long to see her the way You do, as beloved, priceless, and a delicate treasure. I know she is not just my wife, but she is, more importantly, Your daughter. Thank you for trusting me and allowing me to be a vital part of her life. Please help me to love her well and provide opportunities to love her as You so loved the Church. Amen.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 4. A Prayer for a Soft Heart

Gracious God, I lift up my wife to You and ask that You breathe peace into her hardened heart. Reconcile our union and mend areas where hurt has caused damage, trust has been broken, and wounds have been acquired. We desperately need Your mercy and grace. Please forgive us where we have failed You and soften our hearts as we reclaim a healthy balance in our lives that seeks to honor and glorify You. Amen.

    5. A Prayer for Her Relationships

O Lord, thank you for the gift of family, fellowship, and sweet friendships. You created us to be relational and to seek You first and foremost so that we can understand how to commune with one another. Please give my darling wife faithful women and mentors to learn and grow from. Bless her and all those that she meets today. Allow her to be a beautiful reflection of Your great love. Amen.

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. 7. A Prayer for Her Struggles

Dear God, I am beyond grateful for my wife. Thank you for trusting me to be her mate in life. I come before You on her behalf as she is facing great giants and putting on a brave face while inwardly crumbling under the weight of insurmountable pressure and pain. She needs You and Your strength, as it is more than I can offer her. Please draw close and give her the peace and comfort that only You can provide. In the meantime, give me the strength to help her persevere and to lovingly encourage and support her in the way she needs most. Amen.

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:3-5

God, I am so appreciative of the way You created my lovely wife. Please let her inner beauty flow through and shine for others to see, as she is so precious and a sight to behold. Give me eyes for only my wife and to see her as the beautiful woman You created her to be. Please give me the right words to say that will encourage her and allow her inner beauty and femininity to radiate. Amen.

When her heart is troubled, or she physically grows faint, give me the strength and courage to stand firm in faith and take on the risks to lovingly protect and defend her, willing to lay down my life (needs and wants) as You have graciously done for us. Amen.

Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. 1 Peter 3:7
