5 Things Christians Need to Know about Incoming FBI Director Kash Patel

President-elect Trump seems to have a gift for selecting controversial administration members. Two were so controversial (Former Rep. Matt Gaetz and Florida's Hillsborough County Sherriff Chad Chronister) that intense pressure from those who disagreed with his choices pushed them into withdrawing before they even started. However, Trump's selection for FBI Director, Kash Patel, is holding steady in the midst of the storms of controversy swirling throughout DC.  Here are 5 items Christians may be interested to know about Kash Patel.

1. Kash Patel Was Raised Hindu

Kash Patel's parents emigrated from the region of Gujarati, India, and he was born in Long Island, New York. His full name his parents gave to him at birth is Kashyap Pramod Patel. He was brought up in the Hindu faith, and has said he still has a "very deep connection" with India, according to Times of India

    2. Kash Patel Is an Author

Patel has written several books. He's best known for Government Gangsters: The Deep State, the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy.

In this book, he details his background and mentions his parents as being "working-class immigrants from India," according to The Christian Post.

"I was raised Hindu, my family went to temple and prayed at home in our shrine room, making sure to celebrate big holidays like Diwali and Navratri. I remember going to Indian weddings as a kid that were unlike any other party I had been to before—or since. Five hundred people celebrating for a full week was considered a small affair," he wrote.

In his book, he also details his experiences working in the White House. Part of the description about the contents of his book includes corruption he witnessed among "law enforcement personnel, intelligence agents, and military officials at the highest levels of government [who] plotted to overthrow a president," according to Amazon

He also notes how strongly he feels about changes that need to be made in DC, especially within the Department of Justice.

Included in the Amazon description of Patel's book, an endorsement by Trump states, "A brilliant roadmap highlighting every corrupt actor, to ultimately return our agencies and departments to work for the American People…we will use this blueprint to help us take back the White House and remove these Gangsters from all of Government!"

Patel has a chapter in his book entitled "Overhauling the FBI" in which he states that he'd like to move the FBI's headquarters out of Washington, D.C., according to Fox News.

The reasoning behind that would be "to prevent institutional capture and curb FBI leadership from engaging in political gamesmanship," according to a quote from the book picked up by the AP.

    3. Kash Patel Is a Trump Loyalist

Patel was part of the Trump administration during Trump's first term. In a post on his Truth Social account picked up by WND, Trump officially announced Patel as his pick for FBI Director on Saturday.

Trump also noted that "Kash did an incredible job during my First Term, where he served as Chief of Staff at the Department of Defense, Deputy Director of National Intelligence, and Senior Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council. Kash has also tried over 60 jury trials."

He added that, "This FBI will end the growing crime epidemic in America, dismantle the migrant criminal gangs, and stop the evil scourge of human and drug trafficking across the Border. Kash will work under our great Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to bring back Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity to the FBI."

    4. Trump Likes Kash Patel's Unique Background

Trump has plans to make major changes to the agency of the FBI, and one of the reasons he selected Patel is because of Patel's unique background and outspoken criticism of the FBI, according to the BBC.

"It's certainly not like the backgrounds that we've seen other directors of the FBI and those who have overseen other similarly sized and important federal agencies bring to their jobs," Gregory Brower, a former FBI assistant director and deputy general counsel, told the BBC regarding Patel's experience.

"Kash Patel has served in key national security positions throughout the government. He is beyond qualified to lead the FBI and will make a fantastic Director," Alex Pfeiffer, a Trump transition spokesman, told the BBC.

    5. Kash Patel Believes the 2020 Election Was Stolen

Not only does he believe the election was stolen, but he has also been rather vocal about the steps that will be taken to expose lies and reveal the truth.

"Yes, we're going to come after people in the media who lied about American citizens, who helped Joe Biden rig presidential elections," Patel said in a 2023 interview with Steve Bannon, referenced by Times of India. "We're going to come after you. Whether it's criminally or civilly, we'll figure that out. But yeah, we're putting you all on notice."
