5 Things Christians Should Know about Attorney General Pamela Bondi

U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi is someone who is pretty much either hated or loved in the political establishment. There isn't too much in between. She was another controversial pick among President Trump's nominations, but managed to win over the Senate last week in a 54-46 vote, according to Axios.

Pamela Bondi has an interesting past and what seems like an inspiring future, especially where Christianity is concerned, given President Trump's announcement during the National Prayer Breakfast. More on that announcement in a moment. In the meantime, here are 5 things Christians should know about Attorney General Pamela Bondi.

1. Bondi Didn't Start Out as Part of the Political Establishment

She's a Florida native and graduated with a bachelor of arts in criminal justice from the University of Florida. Then she went on to Stetson Law School in Gulfport, Florida, where she received her juris doctorate, according to Irish Star.

She won the Ben Willard Award from the Stetson Lawyers Alumni Association, which is presented to "alumni who have expended extra efforts to prevail for the benefit of Florida's citizens and whose humanitarian achievements have brought distinction to themselves and Stetson Law."

When she won Florida's state attorney race back in 2010, she didn't really have any experience as a politician but was helped by the Tea Party Movement, which was paving the way for many nonestablishment Republicans to run for and win, various offices, according to The New York Times

2. Bondi Was Florida's First Female Attorney General

When President Trump nominated her as U.S. Attorney General, Irish Star reported that he said, "Pam was a prosecutor for nearly 20 years, where she was very tough on Violent Criminals, and made the streets safe for Florida Families.

"Then, as Florida's first female Attorney General, she worked to stop the trafficking of deadly drugs and reduce the tragedy of Fentanyl Overdose Deaths, which have destroyed many families across our Country."

As Florida's Attorney General, she led a move by more than 24 states to overturn Obamacare when it was first implemented and Obama was the president. She also fought to uphold a ban on same-sex marriage and was a proponent of states' rights in connection to that. Bondi made a point of fighting against clinics that handed out large numbers of prescription painkillers that fed the country's opioid crisis.

"I did my best to keep Florida safe, to continue to stand up for victims of crime, and to fight the opioid crisis and the drug crisis that was not only faced Florida, but this entire country," Bondi told the AP.

She also proposed the "Religious Freedom Amendment" to Florida's state constitution, which would eliminate a state ban on public funding of religious organizations.

"Voters deserve an opportunity to decide whether to remove from Florida's constitution a provision that discriminates against religious institutions," Bondi said in a statement picked up by First Liberty.

3. Trump Appointed Bondi to Head Up Anti-Christian Bias Task Force

It's exciting and inspiring for pretty much any Christian that Bondi will be heading up an anti-Christian bias task force. There have been multiple incidences whereby the culture has come against Christians and what Christians believe. These include homosexual couples suing Christian businesses, attacks on prayer in schools, the woke agenda being forced through the school system and onto students, and that only covers a few things.

"The mission of this task force will be to immediately halt all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government," Trump said to attendees during the National Prayer Breakfast at the Washington Hilton, according to The New York Post.

Trump also said the task force would "work to fully prosecute anti-Christian violence and vandalism in our society and to move heaven and earth to defend the rights of Christians and religious believers nationwide."

"You've never had that before, but this is a very powerful document I'm signing. You've got it. You've got it now, first time you've had it. If we don't have religious liberty, then we don't have a free country. We probably don't even have a country," Trump said.

4. Bondi Vows to End Political Prosecutions and Enforce FACE Act Fairly

Pam Bondi

Besides saying she wants to change the way prisons are managed and bring an end to political prosecutions by the Department of Justice, she also intends to enforce the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, or FACE ACT, according to WNG.

However, according to The Christian Post, she also stated that "The FACE Act not only protects abortion clinics, but it also protects pregnancy centers and people going for counseling. The law should be applied evenhandedly."

"For too long, the partisan Department of Justice has been weaponized against me and other Republicans - Not anymore. Pam will refocus the DOJ on its intended purpose of fighting Crime and Making America Safe Again. I have known Pam for many years - She is smart and tough and is an AMERICA FIRST Fighter who will do a terrific job as Attorney General!" Trump posted on his Truth Social, picked up by the BBC.

5. Bondi Has Been an Ally and Friend of Trump for Many Years

Pam Bondi

Bondi has been an advisor to Trump, his impeachment lawyer, and someone in whom he has confided as he was going through all the legal turmoil after the 2020 election, according to The New York Times. She also went to New York back in May as a show of support to Trump when he went through the hush money case for which he was not sentenced in spite of 34 felony counts according to the AP.

When the charges were initially brought against him, she said in a Fox interview that "a tremendous amount of trust is lost in the justice system tonight…the American people see through it."

She went on to note that Trump's website crashed because so many people were disgusted at how things were handled. They donated to his campaign as a way to encourage him to continue his campaign.
