Shield Yourself with These 7 Morning Prayers for Protection

Shield Yourself with These 7 Morning Prayers for Protection

As individuals living in a fallen world, we can often be afraid or worried about our safety. With violence and shootings at an all-time high, it is not surprising that we are trying to cling to something for protection. Something that we need to make sure we are doing is that we are not clinging to someone else for our protection or a false sense of security. Instead, we need to cling to the Lord and find our protection in Him.

When we are struggling to find protection, we can find comfort and solace in Jesus. Jesus is in control of all things and we can trust Him. Just as the winds and oceans obey Him, so does everything else in all creation (Matthew 8:23-27). This includes angels, demons, and the devil. We never need to fear for our safety because we are held closely in the palm of the Lord’s hand.

There will still be many scary things to happen, but we are always under the protection of the Lord. While we will all experience death, we will be taken safely to Heaven through the Lord’s protection. We belong to the Lord—nobody or nothing else can try to harm us. As believers in the Lord, we will go to Heaven when we pass away and for the present time, we will be kept guarded by the Lord’s amazing grace.

As we are relying on the Lord, it is also important to pray for protection each morning. By doing this, we can shield ourselves through the power of prayer as well as acknowledge our dependence on Jesus. If you want to start today, here are 7 morning prayers for protection that you can shield yourself with today.

    1. A Prayer for Trust in God

The Bible tells us to trust in the Lord with our entire heart and to not lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). The more we trust in the Lord, the more protected we will feel. As we trust in Him, we will begin to stop doubting Him and start relying on Him. Jesus or completely worthy of our trust as He will never let us down.

“Dear Jesus, please help me to trust in You. I’m starting my morning by coming to You in prayer and asking You to help deepen my trust in You. I know You are trustworthy and faithful, yet I am prone to doubt and become worried. Help me to trust You with my protection, my life, and my future. Thank You, Lord. Amen.”

    2. A Prayer for the Full Armor of God

Whenever we are facing spiritual attacks, we need spiritual protection. This is realized in putting on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). By putting on the full armor of God, we will be able to take our stand against the devil’s schemes. We are not unaware of the havoc he is causing in the world as well as the problems he can cause in our own lives. This is why we must be praying ahead of time and asking the Lord to help equip us with the full armor of God.

“Dear Jesus, help me to be prepared with the full armor of God today. Sometimes it is a struggle for me to put on each part of the full armor of God and I suffer for it. Help me to take my stand against the devil and to protect myself by Your Word. I trust You Lord and I praise You, Amen.”

    3. A Prayer for Safety in the Lord

The Lord will keep us safe. Although we may doubt Him at times, He is always keeping a watchful eye over us (Proverbs 15:3). We never have to be afraid of being left to the wolves or to the attacks of the enemy. God is always protecting us and fighting for us (Exodus 14:14). All we must do is to be still and turn to Him in prayer

Praying for safety might sound basic; however, for prayers, it is good to be specific. What are we in need of safety for today? Are we facing a longer than normal drive to work or are we traveling overseas to start mission work? We need to be specific in our prayers and once they are answered, we will be able to see them in a more clearer way.

“Dear Jesus, please give me safety in the power of Your Name. I know You can do all things and You are always watching over me. This brings my heart great comfort. I a, coming to You this morning to ask for Your protection for my day’s events. Thank You for always hearing me. Amen.”

  • 4. A Prayer for Health & Wellness

    4. A Prayer for Health & Wellness

A major need each morning is health and wellness. For many of us, we might wake up on a random Wednesday morning and not feel very good. This is when we need to pray for protection in the form of protecting our health and wellness. Whether we feel we are struggling with our physical, mental, or spiritual health, we need to bring these matters before the Lord. He cares about all of our concerns, even the concerns that others have shrugged aside.

This morning, let us bring our prayers to the Lord and ask for His protection in the form of being healthy and well. As someone who struggles immensely with a fear of getting sick, this is a prayer I pray each morning. While some people might find this odd or not important, it is very important to pray for our health and wellness. We can also pray for the health and wellness of our family and friends too.

“Dear Jesus, I am not feeling the best today and I need Your help. Please protect me from any illnesses or anything that could disrupt my wellbeing. I don't want to get sick or feel bad today. Provide me with Your protection and keep me safe from anything that could harm me, whether seen or unseen. I praise You, Amen.”

    5. A Prayer to Fight Back the Lies of the Enemy

The devil has a way of trying to infiltrate our hearts and fill it with lies. This can happen at any time of the day; however, it does happen a lot during the mornings. Thoughts of something going wrong at work, something bad happening within our family unit, or our own insecurities can make us fearful of the day. Instead of feeding into these lies, we need to fight back against them.

In our Christian walk, we have no time for the devil. We have been given freedom in Christ (Galatians 5:1) and with his freedom, we no longer are held in the bondage of this world. The devil is the “god” of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4), but we are children of the true God (1 John 3:1). This morning, let's turn our hearts to God and allow Him to help us fight against the lies of the enemy.

“Dear Father, please help me fight back against the lies of the enemy. The devil is trying to make me feel insecure and worried about the events of the day. I know You are more powerful than Him and that You will keep me protected. I ask all of this in Your Son’s Name. Amen.”

    6. A Prayer for Physical Protection

Not many of us think about physical protection until we are in need of it. If we don't grow up in a relatively violent or unsafe area, physical protection often doesn’t come to mind. Since we have never needed it, we don’t think about praying for it. However, as soon as we see our physical protection in danger, we start getting more concerned and focused on it. The good news is that even though the world is a scary place, we can have physical protection through the help of the Lord.

“Dear Jesus, I come to You today, asking You to protect me physically. There are many scary things that can happen and I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Please protect me from violence, unsafe situations, and unsafe people. I give all of my worries over to You. Amen.”

  • 7. A Prayer for All Spiritual Attacks

    7. A Prayer for All Spiritual Attacks

Spiritual attacks can come in many forms; however, we are not without hope. When we are undergoing spiritual attacks, we need to raise the gate of protection by going to the Lord in prayer. Each morning, we need to ask for the Lord’s help and His aid in our present season of life. He will give us protection and provide us with relief from spiritual attacks. Prayer is powerful and can move mountains, including setting us free from spiritual attacks.

“Dear Jesus, I am currently undergoing a spiritual attack. I humbly ask You to help me in my time of need. I cannot overcome this attack on my own. I need Your grace, comfort, and protection. I will continue to come to You each morning and present my needs to You. Thank You, Lord. Amen.”
