Inspiring Wednesday Morning Prayers and Blessings to Help you Keep Going

Inspiring Wednesday Morning Prayers and Blessings to Help you Keep Going

Wednesday, also known as “hump day,” is the mid-week day that acts as a bridge to weekend plans. With Friday in focus, to-dos seem more doable, and afternoon slumps tend to make quicker recoveries.

But have we considered the beauty created from “middle things,” like a peony on the cusp of blooming when a single bulb unfurls, creating a loop of beauty in color and fragrance?

Every day, we can be present and alive to God’s beauty and purposes without looking ahead or behind.

Prayer is the “bud”—the center of your day—expanding our gratitude and God’s glory. He delights in hearing your prayers and answering them according to His will. We hope the prayer prompts below will bless your time with the Lord.

    A Wednesday Morning Prayer of Peace

    Lord of Peace, help me to make every effort today to live in peace with everyone as I seek to live differently from the world. Give me a resilient heart, not prone to take words and actions personally, causing me to react in a way that doesn’t reflect Your holiness. Instead, I pray for wisdom and discernment. Help me to hear hurtful words through Your ears, choosing to pray for their hearts instead of responding in defense, knowing words reflect a person’s heart. May the lack of mine reflect Your heart in me, Lord. Amen.

    A Wednesday Morning Prayer from the Bible

    “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you” (Psalm 143:8)

    O Lord, my soul delights in You! Your love never fails. It goes before me, leading me through every step of the day. Calendars, to-do lists, and notifications are not my guide. Where you lead me, I will go. I will speak the words You speak into my spirit and quickly repent when You reveal my sin, for I give myself to You today and every day, Lord. Praise be to Your name, amen.

    Wednesday Morning Benedictions from Scripture

    “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). May you rejoice today in knowing you will face nothing today that God hasn’t spiritually prepared you for. You lack nothing in Christ!

    “Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD” (Proverbs 16:20). May you slow down to savor God’s Word and, in doing so, discover what is truly good.

    “The LORD will work out his plans for my life⏤for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever” (Psalm 138:8). May the enduring love of your Heavenly Father lead you in all peace and joy as you anticipate His work in your life today.

    “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8). May God’s abounding grace be evident in every good work He has planned for you to fulfill.

    “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). Rejoice, for there is nothing you need today or any day that your God has not supplied for you according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

    “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17). May you pause throughout the day to observe God’s good and perfect gifts at every turn.

    “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26). May your heart “receive” the blessings of God’s nearness, graciousness, and peace that are yours in Christ Jesus.

    “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9). May you emulate your Father, the God of all peace, in all ways, today, and every day, for you, child of God, are blessed.

    “My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body” (Proverbs 4:20-22). May you cling to the living Word of God as if it were your very life, for it is—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

    “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). May your confidence in God’s nearness far outweigh your fear, for He is your God.

    Wednesday Morning Prayers for Trust in God

    One True God, I’m grateful You have no desire to play hide-and-seek. Instead, You graciously made Yourself known through Your Son, Jesus, and continue to make Yourself known through Your Word and in prayer, in creation, nature, people, the Church, etc. The world hones its gaming skills by promising one thing and delivering another, hiding behind good intentions. But You, my Lord, lay bare all truth, desiring all to know, trust, and walk in Your ways. Help me trust You more with each passing day. You are a good, good Father. Amen.

    Heavenly Father, please forgive me when my trust flounders. Help me to recall Your constant presence and faithfulness in the past, for You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Amen.

    Lord, I trust in Your unfailing love. It never disappoints but always delights. It strengthens my faith and assures me that in Christ, I can do all things. Because of Your unfailing love, I can love my spouse beyond my natural ability. Because of Your love, I can step outside my comfort zone today as You lead and guide me. Because of Your love, I can love those who oppose me, trusting that Your love in me is greater than any hate or misunderstanding in them. All glory to You, Lord. Amen.

    Holy Spirit, create in me a pure, steady heart that longs to know You more and more and trust You without hesitation. Amen.

    Wednesday Words of Wisdom

    Peter tells us in 2 Peter 1:3-4 that, in Christ, and by God’s power, we have everything needed to live a holy life that pleases Him. In Proverbs 2:1-5, Solomon reveals our responsibility to grow in this knowledge of the Lord.

    Suggestion: As you read, prayerfully consider the italicized verbs. Do they reflect your current pursuit of growing in God? If not, pause here to ask for God’s forgiveness, clearing the way for the Holy Spirit to help you begin applying these actions.

    My son [or daughter], if you:

    accept my words and

    store up my commands within you,

    turning your ear to wisdom and

    applying your heart to understanding, and if you

    call out for insight and

    cry aloud for understanding, and if you

    look for it as for silver and

    search for it as hidden treasure,

    then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. (Proverbs 2:1-5, emphasis mine).

    A Joyful Prayer for Seeing Beyond Hump Day

    Lord, thank You for Wednesday and the promises it holds. I want to be present with those You place on my path today, listening well and watching for those places You are already at work and joining in. Your Word says that the path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. Holy Spirit, fill me! Help me to see this day, and every part of it, from Your perspective, bringing peace and delight to my soul. For me, there’s no actual “hump” to climb over in hopes of better days ahead, for every day is a gift from You waiting to be opened and celebrated. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.

    Wednesday “In the Middle” Prayers

    We can find ourselves in the middle of situations for many reasons. Some are because of unwise or sinful choices, or in between a move, or they feel stuck and afraid to move forward in what God has for us. Every reason gives us an opportunity to pray:

    Pray in the middle of a wait.

    Lord, as I wait for You to move in my situation, I will choose to rest—mind, body, and soul—knowing the wait will not last one second longer than You desire. The “door” will fling open wide in your perfect timing and way. And when it does, I will trust Your answer because I trust You. I will wait for You, Lord. With my whole being, I will wait, and, in Your Word, I will put my hope (Psalm 130:5-6). Amen.

    Pray in the middle of a hard decision.

    Lord, I turn to You for wisdom and discernment in making the right decision, for You know the beginning to end, the best from the good, and above all, which outcome is according to Your plan for me. Holy Spirit, lead and guide me as I trust in You, leaning onto Your understanding and not mine, confident that You will make my path straight. I will be sure to give You all the praise and all the glory, Amen.

    Pray in the middle of sin.

    Shepherd of my soul, I’m eternally grateful that in You, I am no longer a slave to sin but to righteousness. I don’t want to sin, but I do, and now I struggle to know how to move forward from this mess I’ve created. Lord, I confess my sin; nothing is hidden from you. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and make me willing to obey you. Amen.

    Holy Spirit, I ask for discernment as I turn away from sin to walk in holiness. Lift the weight of guilt and shame that desire to paralyze and distract me and make way for a sensitive and teachable spirit. Because of Your great compassion, the stain of my sin is removed, and You have purified me from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). I praise You, Lord. I will sing of Your love forever! Amen.

    Pray in the middle of the wilderness.

    Heavenly Father, like the Israelites on their way to the Promised Land, I find myself circling the “what ifs” mountain as I wander through a wilderness of confusion, chasing after clarity for my calling and future plans. Lord, You know my heart. I mean well in desiring clarity. I want to use my time and resources wisely as I seek to serve You, but has my desire for clarity become more of my focus than intended? I have circled this mountain of “what ifs” long enough. Help me to rest in Your sovereign hands, trusting that nothing You have for me will escape me as I stay in step with You, Holy Spirit. I’m excited to be on this journey with You. Amen.

    A Wednesday Morning Song of Joy

    If you’re unfamiliar with this 1900 prayer song, “Joy Unspeakable,” consider reading the lyrics aloud prayerfully.

    I have found His grace is all complete;

    He supplieth every need.

    While I sit and learn at Jesus’ feet,

    I am free, yes, free indeed.

    Refrain:

    It is joy unspeakable and full of glory,

    Full of glory, full of glory.

    It is joy unspeakable and full of glory;

    O the half has never yet been told!

    I have found the pleasure I once craved;

    It is joy and peace within.

    What a wondrous blessing! I am saved

    From the awful gulf of sin. [Refrain]

    I have found that hope so bright and clear,

    Living in the realm of grace.

    O the Savior’s presence is so near;

    I can see His smiling face. [Refrain]

    I have found the joy no tongue can tell,

    How its waves of glory roll!

    It is like a great o’erflowing well,

    Springing up within my soul. [Refrain]

    In Christ, there are no humps to hurdle over on Wednesdays or any day. Rejoice! He has made your path straight. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered. And when you run, you will not stumble (Proverbs 4:12).
