Wednesday “In the Middle” Prayers
Slide 6 of 8
We can find ourselves in the middle of situations for many reasons. Some are because of unwise or sinful choices, or in between a move, or they feel stuck and afraid to move forward in what God has for us. Every reason gives us an opportunity to pray:
Pray in the middle of a wait.
Lord, as I wait for You to move in my situation, I will choose to rest—mind, body, and soul—knowing the wait will not last one second longer than You desire. The “door” will fling open wide in your perfect timing and way. And when it does, I will trust Your answer because I trust You. I will wait for You, Lord. With my whole being, I will wait, and, in Your Word, I will put my hope (Psalm 130:5-6). Amen.
Pray in the middle of a hard decision.
Lord, I turn to You for wisdom and discernment in making the right decision, for You know the beginning to end, the best from the good, and above all, which outcome is according to Your plan for me. Holy Spirit, lead and guide me as I trust in You, leaning onto Your understanding and not mine, confident that You will make my path straight. I will be sure to give You all the praise and all the glory, Amen.
Pray in the middle of sin.
Shepherd of my soul, I’m eternally grateful that in You, I am no longer a slave to sin but to righteousness. I don’t want to sin, but I do, and now I struggle to know how to move forward from this mess I’ve created. Lord, I confess my sin; nothing is hidden from you. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and make me willing to obey you. Amen.
Holy Spirit, I ask for discernment as I turn away from sin to walk in holiness. Lift the weight of guilt and shame that desire to paralyze and distract me and make way for a sensitive and teachable spirit. Because of Your great compassion, the stain of my sin is removed, and You have purified me from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). I praise You, Lord. I will sing of Your love forever! Amen.
Pray in the middle of the wilderness.
Heavenly Father, like the Israelites on their way to the Promised Land, I find myself circling the “what ifs” mountain as I wander through a wilderness of confusion, chasing after clarity for my calling and future plans. Lord, You know my heart. I mean well in desiring clarity. I want to use my time and resources wisely as I seek to serve You, but has my desire for clarity become more of my focus than intended? I have circled this mountain of “what ifs” long enough. Help me to rest in Your sovereign hands, trusting that nothing You have for me will escape me as I stay in step with You, Holy Spirit. I’m excited to be on this journey with You. Amen.
