14 Valentine’s Day Prayers for Singles
Prayer is communication with God through Jesus Christ, His son. It is a sacred time allocated daily to pour our hearts out to Him in adoration of who He is. It is a time to confess our sins from the heart, give thanks, and intercede on our behalf and on behalf of others. When praying, through faith, we humbly invite God into our hearts and concerns, no matter what they are, with confidence that He hears every prayer. Prayer is undoubtedly one of the best ways to reach God anytime, anywhere, for anything.
For single believers, Valentine's Day can represent so many negative things when it comes to celebrating this day because of their relationship status. Past trauma, a broken heart, and loneliness are just a few things that can plague an unmarried believer's heart and mind leading up to this day. If we're being honest, many people dread Valentine's Day and try to avoid it at all costs. However, this year I want to encourage singles to prepare for Valentine's Day by praying every day leading up to it. If you don't know where to start, take a look at teh 14 prayers below.
Day 1
Dear Heavenly Father,
The God of love. God who gives unconditional love. Fill every lonely heart with love, peace and joy every day. Let them know that your love is available. Dry every tear, and mend every broken heart so that broken hearts are renewed and ready to receive love from you. We ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
Day 2
Almighty God,
Creator of Heaven and Earth. Creator of all things in Heaven and earth. God, we thank you for the love we receive, but often take for granted. Thank you for showing us what love is, and how to show love to others. Please help us to receive love that brings a sense of peace in our minds, body's, and spirits so that our hearts may be filled with unspeakable joy. We pray this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Day 3
Creator of All that is Good,
Be present with lonely hearts. Give them peace that passes all understanding. Pour out your loving kindness to them. Speak to their hearts so that they may know your love. Calm their minds and emotions. Keep their hearts close to yours each day. We ask in the most holy name of Jesus, Amen.
Day 4
Father of All Mercies,
Thank you for loving me before, during, and after Valentine's Day. Thank you for the sacrifice of Your only Son for my sins. Thank you for being an example of love every day. Help me to be an example of your love every day. It is with a grateful heart that I pray this prayer. Amen.
Day 5
God of glory and grace,
I love you. I thank you for loving me first. I thank you for loving me unconditionally. Speak to my heart that I may learn the ways of your love so much so that the ways of your love are evident in my life. Teach me your ways of love, so that I may give that love to others. In the sweet name of Jesus, Amen.
Day 6
God of peace and love,
Help me to learn patience with love, practice patience when loving others, and be patient with myself while awaiting the love I deserve. In Jesus' loving name, Amen.
Day 7
God of hope and joy,
As Valentine's Day approaches, fill my heart with love and joy, guide my eyes to see the beauty in Valentine's Day, and cover my thoughts with your love. Show me the fullness of this day from your perspective. Fill me with hope, joy and love. Through Christ I ask, Amen.
Day 8
God, my mind regulator,
Cover my mind with peace, love, and joy each day before, during, and after Valentine's Day. Fill my thoughts with your love. Saturate my mind with peace. Let no unworthy thought enter my mind concerning anything that does not affirm your love for me. Guide my thoughts with your love, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Day 9
God who loves me,
I am thankful for the love to show me every day. I am in awe of the example of love you are. God, teach me your divine ways of love. Shower me with your peace and love leading up to this day. Pour your love into my spirit on Valentine's Day. Whether I am celebrating alone, with a loved one or with loved ones, allow me to feel your love and your presence. In the loving name of Jesus, Amen.
Day 10
God of Kindness,
God who is kind to me every day that You allow me to breathe, show me how to be kind to others and myself leading up to Valentine's Day. Show me how to be kind to others on Valentine's Day. Show me what kindness looks like on this day and every day so that I may be an example of it. In the kind name of Jesus, Amen.
Day 11
Heavenly Father,
God, who purges all sin, God who casts away hindrances for my good. Remove any envious thoughts that may come into my heart in the absence of physical expressions of love this Valentine's Day. Help me to see the beauty in the love that other's receive. Help me to be hopeful in you for love that is on the way. Guide my thoughts so that they remain on you, this day and every day. In Jesus' holy name; Amen.
Day 12
Dear God,
You who forgives and forgets transgressions.You who keep no record of wrong. Thank you for your constant forgiveness of my sins. I ask that you reveal your forgiving ways to me, that I may learn and apply them to my life. Show me how to forgive others. Show me how to release past hurts so that I may live freely in the peace that comes with forgiveness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Day 13
Heavenly Father,
God of inclusion. God who loves all just as they are. Open doors for single hearts to feel included every day. Provide safe spaces for them to be loved, included and valued just as those who are married. Help singles learn how to include themselves in every space you provide that is nurturing to their singleness. In the loving name of Jesus, Amen.
Day 14
God of Love,
God who is love. God who gives unconditional love. God who created love. Thank you for your love. Thank you for the endless opportunities to show love. Thank you for the opportunities to receive love. Shower your love in the hearts of singles everywhere. Let them know they are deserving of love in the purest form. May the love you have for them in every form reveal itself to them on this day and every day beyond Valentine's Day. In the loving name of Jesus, Amen.
Singles, it is my sincerest prayer that you find the beauty in Valentine's Day and know that you are worthy of the love that awaits you. Always remember that love is patient and kind. Be patient and kind with yourself. That's the first step to love.
