“I see trees of green, red roses too; I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
I see skies of blue and clouds of white, the bright, blessed day
The dark sacred night, and I think to myself, what a wonderful world.”

This classic song was performed live at the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach, Florida, during the Barbershop Harmony Society's 2023 Midwinter Convention. And the quartet wonderfully performs the song under the name Party of Five.

The barbershop quartet are all in matching outfits, all singing different parts of the song and harmonizing so beautifully. Their performance definitely brings a smile to the face, and it is clear to see that they are also enjoying putting on a great show for the audience.

The words and music for the song ‘What A Wonderful World’ are by George David Weiss and Bob Thiele, and it was recorded by Louis Armstrong in 1967 for ABC Records. The song was created as a piece that would help cut through the racial tensions and political unrest in America in the 1960s, given its optimism and celebration of life. However, due to lack of promotion, it did not succeed as a single in the United States when it was first released.

The song was a number-one hit in the U.K. in the 1960s, and then it was a top-20 hit in Italy in the 1970s. Finally, in the 1980s, it charted in the United States after it was featured in the 1987 Robin Williams movie Good Morning, Vietnam. By 1999, Louis Armstrong’s version of the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

We hope that you enjoyed listening to this barbershop quartet version of ‘What A Wonderful World’ today!
