Every so often, a country song manages to find an audience beyond just country fans. Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Taylor Swift are a few artists who have accomplished that feat. However, you would be hard-pressed to find a bigger crossover hit within the last 20 years or so than Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance.”

Mia Black, a 16-year-old vocalist from Ireland, and musician Boyce Avenue took a stab at singing the beloved song. The result of their work together is simply astounding. It’s literally music to the ears.

In the video for the cover, posted to YouTube, Boyce sits on a stool and strums on a guitar. Mia also places herself on a stool a few feet away from him as she belts out the lyrics to the classic song.

Mia and Boyce share singing duties. The young lady starts the song off, singing the first two lines as Boyce comes in on the third line in the first verse.

From then on, all throughout the song, Mia and Boyce go back and forth, alternating singing responsibilities. The talented duo then sings the song’s sweet, simple, but memorable chorus together.

“Dance…I hope you dance
I hope you dance…I hope you dance
I hope you dance…I hope you dance.”

Generally, covers are not as good or as well received as the original version. It makes sense; that’s the one everyone is familiar with and loves. Covers are always judged against their original counterpart. But Mia and Boyce’s version is still very enjoyable, pleasant, and expertly performed. Their version doesn’t leave you yearning for the original. When it comes to covers, that's all anyone can ask.

Psalm 98:4: “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, rejoice, and sing praise.”
