Keifer Sutherland Performs Moving Musical Tribute to Late Father Donald Sutherland

Keifer shares about how his dad passed away a week before. He tells about how he is grieving by playing music with the audience. He says that he wrote this song for a friend, but he has been playing it some nights on this current tour as a tribute to his father. This raw performance is a sweet moment of a son’s grief, love, and desire to see his father again. You can hear him choke back his tears during the chorus. 

Kiefer’s song about his friend works beautifully as a tribute to his own dad. He talks about it not being a true goodbye because he will see him again. This intimate moment reveals that Kiefer does not believe in heaven, he sings, “I can’t say for sure where you are going.” This song reminds us that in Jesus we have the confident hope of heaven with our Savior. Even though the world has questions about death and does not know what happens after death, we do. We can share the hope of the gospel with others as they face the question of what happens after death.

God has given us the answer to life after death in Jesus. The sadness and pain that Kiefer is experiencing is still felt by believers in Christ during loss, however, we can hold on with confidence to the faith that we have in Jesus in the midst of the trials and circumstances we face.
