'Older Ladies' Anthem Has the Internet in Stitches

DonnaLou’s ‘Older Ladies’ anthem has the internet in stitches. And it’s no wonder why.

From a young age, we are taught the power of being young and beautiful holds. We cry over wrinkles, weight gain, and the fact each day we are aging. The world has sought after ways to fight aging and we’re all still searching for the fountain of youth, but what if we embraced it and has a laugh or two about it?

DonnaLou not only declared getting older is beautiful and fun, but she also created an anthem women around the world will be humming if not having a good laugh or two.

Dressed up in a country girl outfit, she was surrounded by a few other country gals, swing dancing and stomping their boots to her declaration of embracing our aging bodies. What’s wrong with gray hair, wrinkles, cellulite, and a muffin top? Absolutely nothing. That’s what is so great about her cheeky song.

“My tummy ain’t tucked or Lippo sucked. It’s a little pouchy, but I can still hoochy koochy,” as in dancing right? Definitely dancing with your hubby!

I don’t know about you, but I love getting older. It’s easier to stop listening to the world about what we are supposed to look like and love our bodies the way they are. It’s easier to embrace t-shirts and sweatpants, enjoy that extra slice of pizza, and forgo makeup. Because with aging comes wisdom and loving our bodies for what they are: vessels to enjoy life.

Donnalou’s song brings mirth and a smile when she sings, “If you want a younger model, then I wish you well sweet pea. Cause if you can’t see what it is you have, then you ain’t having me.”

The Bible casts a rich view of how the Lord views aging, and we should too. Why not laugh about it!

I hope this cheeky video brings a smile to your face and you pass it on to your friends. May we all get back to the simple things of loving life around us–cellulite and all.

“The glory of young men is their strength, but the splendor of old men is their gray hair,” Proverbs 20:29.
