Where Is Jesus in the Old Testament?

Where Is Jesus in the Old Testament?
  • Updated Oct 14, 2024

Where was Jesus in the Old Testament? One of the truths that we know about Scripture that Scripture teaches us is that Jesus was active and working even throughout the Old Testament. I want to give you two examples. The first one is Exodus 3:2. There's a big question. Who is the angel of the Lord? Well, there's an indication that the angel of the Lord may actually be Jesus himself. There is another Old Testament passage, Psalm 110, and this is a throne room scene. King David enters into a vision. He kind of sees God, and this is what he sees. He says the Lord says to my Lord, sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool. Jesus acknowledged his own presence in the Old Testament, and even King David had an idea that this was going to take place. This is why Jesus quotes Psalm 110, and we see it through even the original language. And so we see Jesus in the Old Testament.

Have you ever come to a point where you got tired of reading the Bible? Lysa TerKeurst understands how it feels when your heart gets disconnected and Jesus seems out of reach. Studying the Bible on our own can be intimidating — but we’ll never grow in our walk with Jesus unless we make reading Scripture more than just another thing on our Christian checklist. Do you want to dive deeper? Do you want the Bible to make sense and make a difference in how you live your life? This resource, "3 Bible Study Basics You Must Know" by Lysa TerKeurst, is for you.

Living in the peace we want doesn’t come from the absence of pain and chaos, but by knowing Jesus is with us in those things.
