I think all of us have to admit that at some point in our lives we have all asked that question. And that is okay. The Psalmist asks questions like that all the time. Job asked questions like that of God all the time. So, I think God accepts those kinds of questions. We shouldn’t feel guilty about asking those kinds of questions.
Why does God allow evil to come to us? Well, he allows us because he allows us to live in a world that is fallen. He allows us to live in a world where evil permeates our society. We see it everyday in horrible crimes, terrible tornadoes, and natural events. But God doesn’t want us to live forever in an evil society. In fact, God never wanted us to live in an evil world. We chose to make this world evil. Now, the good things is the God who allows us to live in an evil world today—and evil and terrible things to happen in our lives—has a plan that will stop all of that and change everything forever, for all eternity.
You and I are living in the dark cloud right now, where evil still reigns in this world. Satan is the prince and the power of the air. As long as that is true bad things are going to happen. There will be children born with deficiencies (like down syndrome or other physical deficiencies or mental deficiencies) and storms are going to come and destroy homes. People say, “God where are you” when that happens. The fact is, God is right now preparing a place for us so that when the day comes when those things will never happen again. We already have a home that we can live in forever in which evil will never be a part of our lives again.
